The Red Cross of Franklin County held it’s Annual Bean Soup Lunch on January 31, 2013 at the VFW Post in downtown Frankfort.  Hundreds of people enjoyed lunch for just $5, which included a drink and desert.  A silent auction was held on baked goods that were donated to raise additional funds.  Although “net” proceeds have yet to be tallied, 612 lunches were served, 354 were eat-in at the VFW Hall, 77 were delivery and 181 were carry-out.  Total ticket sales were $3,060.00.

Over $3,800 were taken in, but totals are still not firmed up.

Proceeds from the Bean Soup support disaster relief here in our community (mostly fire victims, unless we have a flood, ice storm, etc.).  Red Cross responds to immediate, disaster-caused needs with supplies such as emergency shelter, food, clothing/shoes and long-range recovery assistance and planning.
