Betty Hostetler, a resident at Frankfort’s Ashwood Place Retirement Community, turned 100 on Sunday, November 10th!  She reminisces about her amazing life and often talks of the trips that her and her husband had taken over the years.  She said that she subscribed to the National Geographic magazine and would use that to help decide their next destination.  During one of these conversations Betty mentioned a letter that she had received from National Geographic.  Apparently Betty is the longest living subscriber to National Geographic, subscribing since the 1930’s!  Jokingly she said she thought she shouldn’t have to pay for it anymore, and the folks at Ashwood agreed.  So it wasn’t hard to decide what to do for her 100th birthday.  She was given a book by National Geographic covering “125 Years of National Geographic” and her subscription will be paid for the rest of her life by Ashwood Place and Home Instead Senior Care.  This Second Wind Dream was a total surprise to Betty.  Photos of her receiving her gift from National Geographic Magazine will be supplied to her by Digital Expressions Photography.
