Buffalo Trace Christmas Lights See a kaleidoscope of sparkling lights and displays that captivate your 11pm.

7:00 – 10:00 pm – Nuel Coward’s Private Lives, The Grand Theatre, NCM Fathom and CinemaLive are partnering together to present Private Lives a 1930 comedy taking place in three acts by award winning playwright and composer Noël Coward. It focuses on a divorced couple who, while honeymooning with their new spouses, discover that they are staying in adjacent rooms at the same hotel. Despite a perpetually stormy relationship, they realize that they still have feelings for each other. Coward wrote one of his most popular songs, “Some Day I’ll Find You”, for the play. “Toby Stephens and Anna Chancellor are irresistibly well-matched” (Metro) as glamorous divorcées Elyot and Amanda whose love for one another is unexpectedly rekindled when they take adjoining suites of a French hotel while honeymooning with their new spouses five years later. The original reprisal in 1983 starred legendary icons Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton. This production is coming from the Old Vic which Kevin Spacey is the Artistic Director. 6:30 – 7:30 pm – Our Beloved Ghost Tours of Liberty Hall, Liberty Hall Historic Site, Join us for a candlelight tour of Frankfort’s most famous “haunted” house, Liberty Hall. Guests will be guided through the house where they will learn about death, mourning rituals and Victorian spiritualism in the 19th century. Guests will learn all about “our beloved ghost,” The Gray Lady of Liberty Hall, and explore her origins and legacy. The origins of other “haunting” stories from the 217 year-old mansion will also fill the night.  The newly-opened “Gray Lady’s” bedroom will be included in the tour.   This is a new event.  More tour dates will be scheduled for 2014.   Tickets are $10 per person, and space is limited to 20 participants for each tour.  Guests must be 12 years or older to participate.   For more information, visit Liberty Hall Historic Site on Facebook or call 502-227-2560.

10:30 am – KHS and the Kentucky Genealogical Society present December Family History Workshop: “Tackling Your Brick Walls – Panel Discussion”, with Donna Bond, Deborah Campisano, Myra Evans & Roger Futrell. Thomas D. Clark Center for Kentucky History, This December, join us for a special Brick Wall Panel! Our guest panel will consist of several local/national genealogy experts as they address common brick wall problems and a few examples of real-life brick walls submitted by our audience! 

Session 1 (10:30 a.m.): Tackling Common Brick Walls During this session, our panel will discuss common brick walls encountered by most researchers – as well as various methods for breaking through these challenges.

Session 2 (12:30 p.m.): Brick Wall Cases and Discussion During the afternoon session, our panel will be presented with real brick wall problems submitted by the audience. Brick wall challenges were collected from our regular 2nd Saturday attendees over the summer and fall and submitted to our panel prior to this event. The panel will have had approximately one month to look over the challenges for a possible solution.

Registration is strongly suggested for this FREE event. However, walk-ins ARE welcome. 

A light lunch is available for the break between sessions if requested at time of registration for $7, payable at the door.
