Come be a part of Frankfort history!  Walk in the footsteps of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. 50 years later.

In celebration and commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the 1964 civil rights march on Frankfort, The Allied Organization of Civil Rights will conduct a Public Civil Rights March on the 5th day of March in Frankfort, KY.

THE MARCH WILL BEGIN AT 9:30 A.M. AT THE KENTUCKY HISTORY MUSEUM AT 100 WEST BROADWAY AND PROCEED EAST ON BROADWAY TO HIGH STREET.  THE MARCH WILL TURN RIGHT ON HIGH STREET AND PROCEED SOUTH ACROSS WEST MAIN STREET TO THE CAPITOL AVENUE BRIDGE.  THE MARCH WILL PROCEED SOUTH OVER THE BRIDGE AND ALONG CAPITOL AVENUE TO THE STEPS OF THE STATE CAPITOL FOR A RALLY WITH SPEAKERS.  IN ADDITION, PARTICIPANTS WILL BE ENTERING THE MARCH ALONG CAPITAL AVENUE FROM THE EAST AND WEST SIDES OF 2ND, 3RD, 4TH, CAMPBELL, TODD AND STATE STREETS.
 
EVENT STAGING AREAS WILL BE AT THE VFW PARKING LOT AT 2ND AND CAPITAL AVENUE AND ON SHELBY STREET BETWEEN WEST CAMPBELL AND WEST STATE STREETS.  EVENT PARKING WILL BE AVAILABLE ON THE EAST AND WEST SIDES OF 2ND, 3RD, 4TH, CAMPBELL, AND TODD STREETS AND UNDER THE BRIDGE AT WEST MAIN AND CAPITAL AVENUE.POLICE AND EMERGENCY PERSONNEL WILL BLOCK ROADS ALONG THE MARCH ROUTE.  THE EVENT WILL CONCLUDE AT 12:30 P.M.

THE PUBLIC IS ENCOURAGED TO PARTICIPATE IN THIS MOMENTOUS EVENT WHICH WILL CELEBRATE AND HONOR THE RICH HISTORY OF THE CIVIL RIGHTS MOVEMENT IN THE COMMONWEALTH.
