Telling the big story of Kentucky’s small-town capital city

In November of 2004, the Capital City Museum opened its doors to the public. Housed in a 150 year old building that represents all that is left of the Capital Hotel, which burned in 1917, the museum is a large room filled with history and character. There are plenty of details to explore, with exhibits painting a vivid picture of both political and personal life in Kentucky over the past 200 years.

The Capital City Museum is open from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM Monday through Saturday

Admission to the museum is free.

Performing Live Will Be Jimmy Mundane and Friends

What do you say when everyone knows you are writing your own bio?

Lucky: I’ve been lucky enough to be immersed in playing and writing a wide variety of music: Rock-n-Roll, Blues, Reggae, Outlaw Country, Mountain Music and Traditional Irish.

Somehow, I’ve put all these things together and made my own style from it. Although I occasionally tour, I’ve never tried to impress upon anybody that I ‘m anything more than a guy who performs within an hour’s drive from home. When stranger asks if a song I did was written by Bob Dylan, John Fogerty, or Bob Marley, I can’t possibly be insulted by that.   “John Prine meets the Rolling Stones” was about the most flattering thing anyone’s ever said about this band. You can find 4 of my 7 albums on iTunes by looking for “The Jimmy Mundanes” or “Jimmy Mundane and the Unknown Insanes.”

In addition to creative work, our group also covers many songs by other artists, but that won’t matter: We don’t take much time to brag on it and people are too busy having fun to even think about it…and just because a tune is commonly played, don’t be afraid to ask…you never know: We can have fun just doing things on the fly like that…as long as you have fun with us. If you are a dancing crowd, we’ll go with that. If you are a listening crowd, we may play something more intimate.

One skill I will admit to having, is the ability to attract top-notch players into my projects. My longtime bandmates and studio partners, Mark Louden and Cameron Mahoney, are both notable bandleaders and recording artists on their own, bringing more spark, spice and lists of outrageous demands into the mix.

So check us out, dance a bit, relax and enjoy Jimmy Mundane and Friends. We won’t have a fog machine and an entourage, but we have got regular guy music under control…
