Telling the big story of Kentucky’s small-town capital city

In November of 2004, the Capital City Museum opened its doors to the public. Housed in a 150 year old building that represents all that is left of the Capital Hotel, which burned in 1917, the museum is a large room filled with history and character. There are plenty of details to explore, with exhibits painting a vivid picture of both political and personal life in Kentucky over the past 200 years.

The Capital City Museum is open from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM Monday through Saturday

Admission to the museum is free.

4:00 – 7:00 pm – Jessie Laine Powell, at Talon Winery, Gordon Ln, Shelbyville

Her husky, soul-tinged delivery, and her R&B and Gospel roots run deep. A preacher’s daughter, Jessie grew up with the gospel music of the church. But it was jazz that began to capture her, and before long jazz and R&B had begun to dominate her musical taste. Now Jessie and Creative Soul Jazz embark on a re-imagining of sorts. Getting Jessie back to the serious side of jazz, while still holding true to her Gospel and R&B roots. Creative Soul Jazz is introducing Jessie into the social media world as a jazz vocal force to be reckoned with.
