 2016  Paul Sullivan Award Nomination

Paul P. Sullivan was a Frankfort native, President of Farmers Bank from 1965 until his untimely death in 1980, and an unselfish philanthropist.
Mr. Sullivan’s leadership created benchmarks in Frankfort’s progress and prosperity that may never be equaled.  He helped to organize the Frankfort Industrial Foundation in the 1960’s that was able to purchase Frankfort’s first industrial park and he spent 10 years raising money for the YMCA both to get construction started and to ultimately pay off the debt.  As Chairman of the Plant Board he played a major part in keeping utility rates at a minimum while overseeing the building of the water treatment facility.  Mr. Sullivan also helped to guide the construction of the Capital Plaza, the Farmers Bank main office, was involved in refurbishing the former Southern Hotel as a residence for the city’s elderly, and in restoring the railroad depot on Broadway.
In 1981, the Chamber began honoring the memory of Paul Sullivan with an annual award in his name presented to individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the community.
