Telling the big story of Kentucky’s small-town capital city

In November of 2004, the Capital City Museum opened its doors to the public. Housed in a 150 year old building that represents all that is left of the Capital Hotel, which burned in 1917, the museum is a large room filled with history and character. There are plenty of details to explore, with exhibits painting a vivid picture of both political and personal life in Kentucky over the past 200 years.

The Capital City Museum is open from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM Monday through Saturday

Admission to the museum is free.

Join us for the Capital Area Extension Master Gardeners’ Lunch & Learn program to learn the history of hemp production in the US, the background and current research in Kentucky’s program, and information about the cultivation of and markets for industrial hemp.

$8 menu includes half wrap sandwich*, soup, desserts, and drinks. *(veggie or non-vegetarian)

Follow the wondrous travels of author Jules Verne’s intrepid Phileas Fogg via Chef Ouita’s fantastic menus during her fourth annual Winter Dinner Series, Around the World in 80 Days!

In the first three months of 2016, the staff of the Holly Hill Inn in Midway will conduct guests on a culinary world tour with guest chefs and exotic stops from London to Paris to Japan and beyond. The schedule is below.

6:00 pm – South Frankfort Neighborhood Association Quarterly Meeting, at the South Frankfort Presbyterian Church, Third Street entrance.  Social hour / potluck meal at 6 pm and the meeting will start at 7 pm.  Guest speakers will be Ben Smith, President of the FIS Education Foundation and Suzanne Gray, President of the Tanglewood Neighborhood Association.

7:00 pm – Ghost Tour at Buffalo Trace Distillery, It’s rumored that there are more spirits at the Distillery than those aging in barrels. You will hear legendary stories and get a look at some of the Distillery’s most haunted areas, including Stony Point Mansion, where it’s been said that the ghost of Col. Blanton still resides.
