The 8th Annual “Run for the Gold” was a family gathering that even the Irish would be proud of as over 700 runners & walkers gathered downtown on St. Clair for the St. Patrick’s Day event. Plenty of activities were available in downtown Frankfort for the entire family before the race even began. Local bagpiper, Keith Goins, led the children with a stroll through the street of downtown. Then, the Lexington Irish Dancers performed in front of the Grand Theatre.
The race is the second in the new Frankfort Striders Run/Walk Series. More information on the other races is available on the Frankfort Striders Run/Walk Series website (www.frankfortstriders.com) and on their Facebook group.
The overall male winner with a blazing time of 9:27.2 minutes was Aaron Schaffner. While the overall female winner was Roberta Meyer, with a time of 11:26.0.
Once again, timing was done by Good Times Event Services and the times can be found on the links below.
