Frankfort Civil Air Patrol is having an Open House on August 30th at 5:00 – 7:00 pm. Civil Air Patrol offers teens leadership opportunities and character development with core values of Integrity, Volunteer Service, Excellence, and Respect. They learn aerospace, emergency services, drill, physical training, and they learn how to FLY!

When a cadet joins Civil Air Patrol, they are eligible to receive 5 powered flights. Each one offers a different lesson of flight. Sitting in the copilot seat, they will receive a flying lesson lasting 45 minutes to an hour. The cadets actually get an opportunity to fly the plane during their flight. Then the plane lands and they switch places with another cadet sitting in the back seat and enjoy another hour of flight as a passenger. The Air Force pays for the planes and fuel. The pilots volunteer their time. The cadets pay nothing for the flight.

Frankfort Squadron cadet flight meets every Tuesday at the Kentucky Wing HQ next to Sonic from 5:00 – 7:00. To join, a youth must be between 12-18 years old. Those above age 18 have a meeting is every first and Third Tuesday at 7:00 pm.
