The historic Grand Theatre opened its 2016-17 season on Saturday, August 20th, in grand style with the return of brothers Michael and Kevin Bacon, leading The Bacon Brothers Band. The band was sponsored by Drs. Renshaw, Wix, Murray and Holland. The band performed here just a year ago and enjoyed the venue and the charm of Frankfort. Renshaw is an avid musician and Grand Theatre volunteer himself. So, when The Bacon Brothers Band wanted to return to Frankfort this year, the popular dentist/musician offered to host them. The show was once again a sold out event! And tickets went quickly and were scarce to come by at the last minute.
The Bacon Brothers are anything but a typical rock band. Brothers Michael and Kevin are each accomplished in their own right. They play gritty rock that is unapologetically unique and authentic. Their style can best be described as a blend of folk, rock, soul and country influences. After 20 years of performing together, The Bacon Brothers continue to impress audiences and critics with their soulful sound.
The band did NOT disappoint those able to attend the show. The crowd, mostly comprised of those in their 40’s or older, were up on their feet by the end of the show – dancing, cheering, clapping along. But the older generations were not the only ones to enjoy their brand of music. A handful of 20-somethings, and even my teenage daughter, enjoyed them tremendously. If you ever get a chance to see them in concert, get your tickets early!
