ABOUT THE WOOLERY:

Established in 1981, The Woolery originally sold sheep as well as weaving and spinning supplies. Changing hands (and locations) several times from New York state to North Carolina, the current business landed in Frankfort, Kentucky, in 2009. Purchased by Wave and Perri McFarland in 2015, 17 employees are both full and part time; the brick and mortar store operates 6 days a week, and online a very busy 24/7. Weekly we get visitors in store from all over the country – some traveling nearby who detour to Frankfort and some who make our shop the focus of their trip – who come to look at our showroom floor of looms and wheels, and often to take private lessons or classes from our instructors. It is not uncommon for some of our customers to plan a Kentucky vacation just around visiting The Woolery!

2016 has been a huge year for us, and 2017 promises to be just as big; not only have we expanded our online presence, we also upgraded to a beautiful new, easy-to-navigate webpage, and moved into a bigger retail location with room for more inventory, a larger classroom space, faster shipping, and more parking. We are sponsoring and attending more trade shows and fiber arts festivals than ever before, and enjoying the evolution and growth of the shop, as well as the new friends we are making along the way!

So what do we sell (and do)? Quite a lot. Offhand, our inventory holds at any given time around 13,000 items for sale, all related to the fiber arts industry in one form or fashion. We sell both high-end and budget spinning wheels, weaving looms, and every type of fiber you can spin and weave with imaginable!
