With nearly 1,900 participants in this year’s Black Cat Chase 5K, it’s easy to see that this is Frankfort’s favorite race of the season. It’s one of the last races of the inaugural season of the Frankfort Striders Run/Walk Series. With participants from as far away as Indiana, Ohio, Georgia, Mississippi, Texas, and even Wisconsin, this race is really making a name for itself. The weather was perfect for this year’s race. No rain. Not too cold. Not too hot. It was the perfect race for everyone! You didn’t have to necessarily be a runner to enjoy the dancing black cat, the costumes, the music, and the visually pleasing course around the State Capitol and through the streets of Downtown Frankfort. As always, there were first timers, walkers, casual runners, experienced athletes, kids, entire families, school groups, groups of friends, and people of all ages and abilities. Many participants wore costumes in this festive, night run. This race benefiting the Frankfort YMCA is definitely a family friendly race with a fun, festive atmosphere!
