Franklin County Public Schools, in partnership with Frankfort Independent and the Chamber of Commerce, is in need of an additional 15-20 volunteers for our Reality Store, which will be held on Thursday, November 17, a the KSU Exum Center.  Volunteers can work a morning; afternoon; or all day shift.  Lunch will be provided.

The Reality Store provides 8th grade students, (from every school in Frankfort), with the opportunity to learn how to manage a monthly budget.  Students are given a monthly income, based on their grade point average.  They have to travel from booth to booth paying bills including, Uncle Same, mortgage/rent, utilities, insurance, transportation, food, and other miscellaneous expenses.  We are in need of volunteers to work the booths.  There will be information at each table, explaining what volunteers need to do.  For example, students can choose whether they want to live in a house or apartment.  There is rent/mortgage amounts listed for each property.  The volunteer would simply subtract the amount from the students balance sheet.  (Calculators will be available:))

Please email Amy Nance, Dropout Prevention and Volunteer Coordinator, no later than November 9th, if you are interested in volunteering.
