Telling the big story of Kentucky’s small-town capital city
In November of 2004, the Capital City Museum opened its doors to the public. Housed in a 150 year old building that represents all that is left of the Capital Hotel, which burned in 1917, the museum is a large room filled with history and character. There are plenty of details to explore, with exhibits painting a vivid picture of both political and personal life in Kentucky over the past 200 years.
The Capital City Museum is open from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM Monday through Saturday
Admission to the museum is free.

The 21st Annual Thanksgiving Walk* of Awareness for Frankfort’s ACCESS Soup Kitchen and Men’s Shelter takes place Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, Nov. 24, 2016! Sign in begins at 7:30am. Coffee and light snacks available during registration. Walk* begins 8:30am, 311 Washington St., Church of the Ascension. About 2.2 mile walk* through historic downtown Frankfort, to the State Capitol, ending at the ACCESS building at 311 W 2nd St, Frankfort KY. The annual walk* helps fund food, supplies, and shelter for those in need.
This walk is part of the Frankfort Striders 2016 Run/Walk Series. If you are participating in our Thanksgiving Day Walk of Awareness and want this walk to count toward your total, please check YES on the question regarding the Series.

We open the Museum and Gift Shop around 12:30. We have historical exhibits, model railroads, restored train cars, and a train ride! We sell tickets both online, and at the Ticket Counter. Prices begin at $12 for Adults, and $10 for Children.
The train ride will take about 90 minutes, and will include a stop at our Young’s High Bridge Overlook at Tyrone, Kentucky! Unfortunately, there are no restrooms onboard the train.

Telling the big story of Kentucky’s small-town capital city
In November of 2004, the Capital City Museum opened its doors to the public. Housed in a 150 year old building that represents all that is left of the Capital Hotel, which burned in 1917, the museum is a large room filled with history and character. There are plenty of details to explore, with exhibits painting a vivid picture of both political and personal life in Kentucky over the past 200 years.
The Capital City Museum is open from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM Monday through Saturday
Admission to the museum is free.

1:30 pm – Guided Tour of Historic Liberty Hall, at Liberty Hall Historic Site, 218 Wilkinson Street.
Guided tours of Liberty Hall are given Monday-Saturday and depart from Liberty Hall located at 218 Wilkinson Street at 1:30 pm. Tours by appointment may be made during normal office hours with advance notice of 7 days. Guided tours last approximately 75 minutes, ending in the museum store. The grounds of Liberty Hall Historic Site are open to the public daily, dawn to dusk. Leashed dogs are allowed on the grounds. Photographers are welcome with a pass; click here to read more about our photo policy.

School tours must be scheduled in advance. The fee for school tours is $3.00 per child. One chaperon per every 10 children is free; each additional adult pays $5.00. To schedule a school tour, call (502) 227-2560 or contact us by email.
Accessibility
The first floor of the Orlando Brown House is wheelchair accessible via a ramp on Wapping Street, adjacent to the building. A handicapped-accessible restroom is also available at the Orlando Brown House. Please call for more information. Liberty Hall is not wheelchair accessible.
