Telling the big story of Kentucky’s small-town capital city

In November of 2004, the Capital City Museum opened its doors to the public. Housed in a 150 year old building that represents all that is left of the Capital Hotel, which burned in 1917, the museum is a large room filled with history and character. There are plenty of details to explore, with exhibits painting a vivid picture of both political and personal life in Kentucky over the past 200 years.

The Capital City Museum is open from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM Monday through Saturday

Admission to the museum is free.

12:30 – 3:30 pm – Home for the Holidays, at the Bluegrass Railroad Museum, 175 Beasley Rd, Versailles

Thanksgiving Saturday, come to the Museum! No one really enjoys ‘shopping’, when you really have to fight the traffic, the parking lots, the store aisles in a mess, more traffic at the registers, wait in line at a restaurant, no way!

Come to Versailles! We have quite a selection of traditional fast food, as well as local restaurants for those with a more defined taste! Ricardo’s Grill & Pub, Melissa’s Cottage Café, Madison’s On Main, Darlin’ Jeans Express, Wagon Bones Grill, Wilson’s Pool Room, Cornerstone Pharmacy Grill, just to name a few. After you have lunch, come Ride the Train!

We open the Museum and Gift Shop around 12:30. We have historical exhibits, model railroads, restored train cars, and a train ride! We sell tickets both online, and at the Ticket Counter. Prices begin at $12 for Adults, and $10 for Children.

The train ride will take about 90 minutes, and will include a stop at our Young’s High Bridge Overlook at Tyrone, Kentucky! Unfortunately, there are no restrooms onboard the train.

Purchase your tickets through our Book Now! link, or through our website: www.bluegrassrailroad.com
