A couple hundred brave souls turned out for the inaugural event held on Friday evening at Josephine Sculpture Park. The cold temperatures were not enough to deter families from attending JSP Under the Stars: Sculpture, Sparks, & Spirits. This new family friendly event was put on with the help of an army of volunteers and was a fundraiser for Frankfort’s art park destination. Families were invited to this free event which is part of the GoodGiving Challenge. Most of the activities were held outside including a bonfire, fire dancers, and being able to stroll through the park and see some of the illuminated sculptures. The heated barn welcomed visitors and took the chill off as laptops were set up to take live donations, while entertainment included DJ and live music performed by Jeri Katherine and Nat, and an art competition for all ages. A cash bar (with proceeds benefitting JSP) as well as burgoo, brats and hotdogs were available for purchase, with complimentary sweets supplied. Although the night sky was too cloudy to see much of anything, Dan Price brought in several telescopes for a “Night Sky Tour”. All in all, the overall event seemed to be a success. We hope next year will be bigger for the commonwealth’s only sculpture park!
Your online donations Nov. 29 – Dec. 31 will help JSP win a $5,000 endowment from the BlueGrass Community Foundation as part of the GoodGiving Challenge.
