ArtWalk Frequently Asked Questions:

How do I find ArtStops on the ArtWalk?

Look for the BIG ORANGE FLAGS that designate each ArtStop. You can also find information about featured ArtStops and artists here on this webpage or on our Facebook page leading up to each ArtWalk.

What is an ArtHunt?

Occasionally, we will feature an ArtHunt as part of an ArtWalk event. ArtHunt is a fun, free activity for kids and adults to interact with the artists and artwork along the ArtWalk! Just pick up an ArtHunt card (there are designated versions for kids and for adults) at any ArtStop and then “hunt” along the ArtWalk for the answers to the questions on the card. When you’re done with the ArtHunt, leave your completed card at any ArtStop and you’ll be entered in a drawing for a great prize (there’s one for kids and one for grown-ups). So put on your best sleuthing shoes and track down some incredible creativity on the KECU ArtWalk!

What is a Sneak Peek?

Occasionally, we will have a Sneak Peek event the week before an ArtWalk. The Sneak Peek is a small, single-venue exhibit featuring a sample artwork from many of the artists participating in the ArtWalk. The Sneak Peek artist reception offers an opportunity for our local artists to enjoy each other’s art and to connect with others in the artistic community. Sneak Peeks are typically held at the Jane Chancellor Moore Gallery at KECU or at a venue in Downtown Frankfort. All are welcome!

What is KECU?

KECU is the Kentucky Employees Credit Union and they are the main sponsor of our Downtown ArtWalk series. For more information, visitwww.kecu.org. Be sure to thank them for supporting the arts in Frankfort!

How can an artist participate in ArtWalk?

We encourage artists to contact our local ArtStop venues directly about displaying artwork during an ArtWalk. Local galleries, shops, restaurants, churches, and civic spaces often participate as ArtStops. Some building owners allow artists to display work in empty building spaces as well. If the weather allows, we can also accommodate outdoor art exhibits and plein- air painting. Keep in mind that the deadline for participating in an ArtWalk is usually 6+ weeks before the actual ArtWalk in order for us to promote and advertise the event effectively, so please make arrangements accordingly.
