The Capital City Community Band, under the direction of Thomas W. Brawner III, will present their Spring Concert on Tuesday evening, March 7, at 7:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church, 211 Washington St., Frankfort.
The concert will pay tribute to John Edmondson (1933-2016), music educator, composer and publisher, with strong ties to the Franklin County Community. Mr. Edmondson was the 2nd Director of Bands at Franklin County High School, taking the baton after Dr. David Livingston.
A variety of Mr. Edmondson’s music will be performed, including the “Jazz Me Blues”, featuring several professional musicians from the Central Kentucky area.
The Capital City Community Band is a 501c3 non-profit organization and runs entirely on donations from the public. There is no admission fee to the concert, but donations are welcomed.
About the Capital City Community Band
Frankfort Kentucky’s Capital City Community Band was founded in August of 1986 by local musicians who wanted to utilize the city’s pool of musical talent for public performances. Since its inception, the band has played at a variety of events and received high acclaim for its outstanding performances.
