Telling the big story of Kentucky’s small-town capital city

In November of 2004, the Capital City Museum opened its doors to the public. Housed in a 150 year old building that represents all that is left of the Capital Hotel, which burned in 1917, the museum is a large room filled with history and character. There are plenty of details to explore, with exhibits painting a vivid picture of both political and personal life in Kentucky over the past 200 years.

The Capital City Museum is open from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM Monday through Saturday

Admission to the museum is free.

Frankfort’s Fishing Reels: Jewels of the Bluegrass

Frankfort has a very unique place in history as being the town where the bait casting fishing reel was perfected and first produced. Every place has its historic event or figure, but only we have this distinction. It was a Frankfort industry for over 100 years. Local craftsmen handmade these gems to fish the renowned streams of central Kentucky. Their reputation for quality and beauty was recognized around the world.

Parent Group for anyone with a child from birth to age 3. Facilitating the group will be Christina Libby of Commonwealth Doula. While your little one is welcome to join, this group is for you, the parent.

4:00 pm – Living Legends Series: Dr. Benjamin Nero, at Kentucky State University, 400 East Main Street

Kentucky State University (KSU) graduate and first African-American student at the University of Kentucky’s (UK) College of Dentistry Dr. Benjamin Nero will speak at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, February 22 at the Bradford Hall Little Theater. The lecture will continue KSU’s Living Legends Series.  The February series puts the spotlight on notable speakers to enhance the intellectual aspect of campus life.

Everyone needs their own special wine glass to enjoy their favorite Verona Vineyards wine.

Join Verona Vineyard’s artist Rhonda as she walks you through creating two hand decorated wine glasses.

Although the design is birds on vines you can customize your creation with color options of pink, black, or blue for your birds.

6:30 pm – Authors Night, at First Presbyterian Church, 416 W Main Street. The program will feature five Frankfort authors – Sallie Clay Lanham, Steve Vest, Jerry Deaton, Ray Peden and Richard Taylor. They will be discussing their books, writing styles and experiences as authors. Book signing and questions afterwards. FREE event and open to the public.
