Over 600 participants signed up for the 9th Annual Good Shepherd “Run for the Gold” 3K Run/Walk. Brave families gathered as the skies threatened to open up and pour rain on the St. Patrick’s Day event, and the temperature was plenty cool enough to keep the hardiest of leprechauns in hiding. The usual plethora of activities were available in downtown Frankfort for the entire family before the race even began. A local bagpiper, the Lexington Irish Dancers, Ronald McDonald, and even a crazy costume contest were among the family friendly activities.

The race is the second in the new Frankfort Striders Run/Walk Series.  More information on the other races is available on the Frankfort Striders Run/Walk Series website (www.frankfortstriders.com) and on their Facebook group.

The overall male winner with a blazing time of 9:32.5 minutes was Aaron Schaffner. While the overall female winner was Makena Gillion, with a time of 12:02.7.

Once again, timing was done by Good Times Event Services and the times can be found on the links below.
