NEW ORLEANS, LA (May 31, 2017) Cane Run Rum earned the top spot as number one for rum daiquiris at the recent World Cocktail Championship, conducted by Tastings.com and the Beverage Tasting Institute.
The daiquiri was first recorded in the late 19th century, in a Cuban mining town of the same name. The drink became popular in the USA in the 1940’s when wartime rationing made whiskey hard to come by. Many people today think of daiquiris as frozen blender concoctions, without realizing that the frozen version is a relatively recent twist.
“We love frozen daiquiris, but the original recipe with rum, fresh lime juice, and superfine sugar really puts the taste and quality of the rum to the test,” said Kristy Crane, senior marketing director. “We’re happy Cane Run did so well, as it’s a superior rum that gives classic cocktails like daiquiris, hurricanes, mojitos and rum and cola that extra spark that pushes them into the premium cocktail category.”
Cane Run Rum is imported from Trinidad by Sazerac and is 80 proof. The suggested retail pricing for a 750 mL is $12.99. Recipes and more information can be found at http://canerunestate.com. To see a video of the number one rated rum for daiquiris, please visit https://youtu.be/CrRRJcGuHX0
