Telling the big story of Kentucky’s small-town capital city
In November of 2004, the Capital City Museum opened its doors to the public. Housed in a 150 year old building that represents all that is left of the Capital Hotel, which burned in 1917, the museum is a large room filled with history and character. There are plenty of details to explore, with exhibits painting a vivid picture of both political and personal life in Kentucky over the past 200 years.
The Capital City Museum is open from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM Monday through Saturday
Admission to the museum is free.

Frankfort’s Fishing Reels: Jewels of the Bluegrass
Frankfort has a very unique place in history as being the town where the bait casting fishing reel was perfected and first produced. Every place has its historic event or figure, but only we have this distinction. It was a Frankfort industry for over 100 years. Local craftsmen handmade these gems to fish the renowned streams of central Kentucky. Their reputation for quality and beauty was recognized around the world.

Kentucky Made: Decorative Arts from the Liberty Hall Collection – Ongoing
Featuring some of the finest examples of Kentucky-made pieces from the Liberty Hall collection, this exhibit explores the social and cultural landscape of 19th-century Kentucky through the work of silversmiths, weavers, furniture makers, and . Some of the artists represented include: Asa Blanchard, Matthew Harris Jouett, Oliver Frazer, and Paul Sawyier. Located on the 2nd Floor of Liberty Hall, the exhibit is only viewed through a guided tour.

You will hear legendary stories and get a look at some of the Distillery’s most haunted areas, including Stony Point Mansion, where it’s been said that the ghost of Col. Blanton still resides. FREE. This is the sixth downtown summer concert of 2017 featuring Lions of Mercury, an awesome rock band playing 70’s funk, rock, and jam music on a mission to change the world with sweet grooves. Sponsors for the series include United Bank; Jim Beam Brands; Frankfort Convention Center; Frankfort Parks, Recreation and Historic Sites; Frankfort Plant Board; Frankfort State-Journal; Cap City Communications; and the Kentucky Historical Society.

Please join Friends of Bluegrass Land Conservancy and Woodford Forward for a special outdoor screening of Wendell Berry’s film, Look & See, at the Henton Family’s Waverly Farm at 6749 Frankfort Rd. in Versailles. The gates will open at 7 pm with the movie to begin at 8:30 pm. Local food prepared by Woodford Reserve Chef de Cuisine Nat Henton. Tickets are $60/person or $100/couple which includes food as well as a special Woodford Reserve cocktail. A full cash bar will also be available. All ages welcome – kids 12 and under get in free. We will have live bluegrass music before the movie begins.
There will be a limited number of chairs available so please bring blankets, camp chairs and any picnic supplies you’d like to have.
This event will be advanced ticketing only and is limited to 250 people so please get your ticket early! The rain date for the event will be Friday, August 25.
All proceeds benefit the Friends of the Bluegrass Land Conservancy and Woodford Forward.
