A message from Together Frankfort
Thank you to everyone who participated in our Stand with Charlottesville gathering on Wednesday, Aug. 16, at the Capitol Annex, Frankfort KY. Please take a minute to thank our speakers, by clicking on the name and sending an email – it’s very easy but very important: Mayor Bill May,Judge Executive Houston Wells, Rev. Dr. Robert Earl Houston, Rev. Dr. Scott Rollins, Rev. Dr. Chuck Queen, Rev. Zenobia Skinner, Ed Powe, for taking their time to be with us.
We invited Frankfort’s elected officials, faith community leaders, civic activists and others to share statements of solidarity with the Charlottesville community as our brothers and sisters experience the tragedy of violence and racial injustice. Their statements and presence were powerful and inspiring. We are working to incorporate all the speeches into our website, but have not yet managed to do that.
If you didn’t get a chance to sign our resolution which calls on local, state and federal elected officials to speak out, please click here and add your name. We will present this to the Frankfort City Council when they meet to discuss this further; check back with us about time and date on the meeting.
If you want to volunteer to work together further on this matter, add your name and contact information after you’ve signed the resolution.
Please join us for our upcoming event, “Money in Politics, The Citizens United Decision – What Do We Do Now?” at 6:30 PM, Thursday, August 24, Community room, 4th Floor, United Bank, 125 Main St., Frankfort.
Representatives from three national organizations – American Promise, Move to Amend, and Wolf-PAC, will describe their work for a U.S. constitutional amendment, to state that corporations are not people, to establish limits on campaign donations, and to require disclosure for contributions.
