A weekend-long adventure for all you crypto-enthusiasts! Meet television personalities. Learn from seasoned researchers. Shop from unique vendors. Network with others in search of elusive creatures. Two full days of mysterious mayhem!

11:00 am – 6:00 pm – Fall Arts Festival, at Josephine Sculpture Park, 3355 Lawrenceburg Rd (3/4 Mile South of Capital Bowl)

This event is free. Parking is $5 per car, truck, van, or even a bus!!

This is an experiential arts festival – our focus is providing you, your friends and family with opportunities to make art or experience & watch demonstrations of exciting new processes and techniques. All workshops are led by experienced artists. All ages and abilities are encouraged, absolutely no experience is needed to participate, just be ready to have FUN!

FREE ART Activities:

Meet guest artist Chakaia Booker: public reception and unveiling of her sculpture The Conversationalist which will be on exhibit at JSP

Participate in the creation of a community art project led by Chakaia Booker

Learn how to throw clay on the pottery wheel at the Broadway Clay tent

Instrument Petting ZOO, hosted by the Lexington Philharmonic. Make some sweet music exploring a variety of musical instruments from each family at this booth

LexPhil at Josephine Sculpture Park

Printmaking: Anna Marie Pavlik will guide you through the creation of your own relief print, inspired by nature

Book binding: Joanne Price of Starpointe Studio will guide you through the creation of your own BUTTERFLY book

Tie dye: Doris Thurber will guide you through tie dyeing – FREE if you bring your own cotton item, or T shirts are available for $10

Stone carving demonstrations by Jason Kelty: learn the basics and try your hand at carving

Learn guitar basics at the SDML Academy of Guitar booth

Sticker making fun: create and wear your own stickers

Sculpture scavenger hunt: explore JSP in search of sculptures using a full color guide

Camp ARTY Fact activity area presented by the KY Historical Society

Make your own Frankfort, KY ROCKS at the Bluegrass Theatre Guild booth

Make your mark on the JSP Chalk Talk board by Scott Ross

Anita Bolen will be conducting a wool spinning demonstration throughout the day, stop by and check it out!

The Festival is GOING GREEN… Help us ditch plastic water bottles for good by bringing your own refillable bottles to the Fall Arts Festival! “Water Monster” refill stations will be provided by the Frankfort Plant Board. We’ll provide compostable cups as well, or you can support JSP by purchasing a refillable water bottle at the event. 12:30 – 4:00 pm – Clickety Clack with Mack!, at the Bluegrass Railroad Museum, 175 Beasley Rd, Versailles

We’re having a visiting steam engine again, for the FOURTH year in a row! We’ll host ‘Mack’, Jeddo Coal #85, for three weekends in September! This will be Mack’s debut appearance, as it has just recently been completely rebuilt.

Mack is an 0-4-0 saddle tank steam engine, built in 1928. It is the fourth traveling steam engine owned, rebuilt, and maintained, by John and Barney Gramling, a father and son outfit based in Indiana.

Come out to the Bluegrass Railroad Museum, and ride behind Mack! We’ll have two trains, departing at 2 pm and 5 pm, on each day, September 9 & 10, 16 & 17, and 23 & 24. Ticket prices range between $20 and $29.

Our “Tunes in the Vines” series is back this year as we celebrate our 19th year. A bottle of wine, good friends and great music are the perfect blend for Sunday afternoons! We have a wide variety of musicians to perform on our Event Barn stage from 2:00 pm – 4:30 pm each Sunday for an afternoon of family friendly entertainment! We help support our many local musicians and hope that you will too! Bring a picnic, lawn chairs or blankets! Don’t forget the family and friends…We have the wine!

Spend your Sunday with us and enjoy a relaxing afternoon on the patio. Wine, good friends and great music are the perfect blend for Sunday afternoons! Music is from 2:00 pm – 4:30 pm. Bring your party people, a picnic, lawn chairs or blankets and enjoy!

Local Kentucky beer also available along with many Equus Run wines.

No charge…Just be prepared for a fun afternoon!

4:00 – 6:00 pm – Autumn By The Lake Acrylic Drawing Class, at Michaels, 7000 John Davis Dr

This is a 2 hour acrylic painting class in Michaels class room. The class registration fee is $25 (50% off is you sign up on Sept. 9th at the open house) plus supplies. THE SUPPLY LIST INCULDES acrylic paints: process cyan, process yellow, process magenta, white and burnt Umber, a 9×12 canvas and 3/4″oval wash brush, Gilbert brush and a round #6 brush- both acrylic.
(The painting can be adopted with other colors based on your paints as needed).
Bring your own supplies or I will help you select what you need at the store.
COME relax and paint for 2 hours. We will blend colors, layer and learn some brush techniques. By the end of the class you will go home with a beautiful painting. Enjoy exploring your creativity-and celebrate your own style.
