The Frankfort YMCA hosted the annual Black Cat Chase 5K on Friday night. Although cool and damp, over 1,200 participants showed up. The Black Cat Chase 5K is hands down the largest race held in Frankfort. Runners and walkers, competitive runners and families, flock into downtown Frankfort to gather on the Old Capitol Lawn. Since the events is held so close to Halloween, participants dressed in their best costumes for a contest. New this year was a pumpkin carving/decorating contest.

This year’s overall male winner was Robert Sandlin, with a blazing time of 17:20.8 seconds. This year’s overall female winner was Betsy Laski of Lexington with 19:11.1.
