Do you have a Kentucky-focused family history mystery that you’re hard-pressed to solve? We might be able to help. The Kentucky Historical Society’s genealogy team is calling for applications for possible inclusion in the 2018 Kentucky Ancestors Town Hall.
Here’s how it works. Our KHS experts will select several of the most intriguing mysteries submitted by people stumped by something or someone as they research their Kentucky family roots. Then we will investigate them and present the findings on July 21, 2018, in front of a live audience during the next Kentucky Ancestors Town Hall. Among the mysteries solved from last year’s call for applications was how a former deputy sheriff ended up being executed for murder; the connection between a Maysville family and a famous flatboat pioneer; and more.
These family mystery reveals (which we videotape live) are just part of a daylong program that include an expo of Kentucky genealogy experts and groups, ongoing genealogy tips and hands-on learning stations.
Priority in the application process will go to stories that take place in Kentucky. Selection criteria, an application and more information about Kentucky Ancestors Town Hall are at history.ky.gov/for-genealogists.
Don’t delay! The application deadline is November 30, 2017!
