Join us for our 3rd Annual “Reindeer Rampage” – A Crossfit Unbridled Competition. 2 person teams (M/M and F/F) with Rx and Scaled divisions. $100 per team.

3 workouts + 1 Floater for all teams. Top 3 teams in Rx and Scaled will have a 5th Championship workout.

Telling the big story of Kentucky’s small-town capital city

In November of 2004, the Capital City Museum opened its doors to the public. Housed in a 150 year old building that represents all that is left of the Capital Hotel, which burned in 1917, the museum is a large room filled with history and character. There are plenty of details to explore, with exhibits painting a vivid picture of both political and personal life in Kentucky over the past 200 years.

The Capital City Museum is open from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM Monday through Saturday

Admission to the museum is free.

Frankfort’s Fishing Reels: Jewels of the Bluegrass

Frankfort has a very unique place in history as being the town where the bait casting fishing reel was perfected and first produced. Every place has its historic event or figure, but only we have this distinction. It was a Frankfort industry for over 100 years. Local craftsmen handmade these gems to fish the renowned streams of central Kentucky. Their reputation for quality and beauty was recognized around the world.

This privately owned Lionel operating layout features three “o” gauge trains (100 or more car) running simultaneously. The trains simulate steam engine smoke and have working horns. Regular KHS admission applies.

The trains simulate steam engine smoke and have working horns. The display includes working crossing lights and carnival rides plus other accessories.

KHS is complementing the model train with never-before-displayed images from its collection.

10:00 am – 9:00 pm – Christmas Gift Craft Day For Youngsters And Young At Heart, at Gogh Crazy, 800 Main Street suite 15, Shelbyville

2 Hour Sessions. 10-12. 4-6. 7-9 (adults only session) Lots of projects from which to choose. Projects individually priced. Make it a family day, drop off the school aged kids, or come work on something yourself.

Celebrate the holidays with us! Learn about cultural holiday traditions celebrated by Kentuckians past and present. Play traditional games that kids from the past enjoyed around the holidays and design your own decorations, including hand-dipped candles, to take home.

Ages 6-12

$10 for first child. $5 for every additional child

Payment is due the day of the class. Classes begin by checking in your child at the front desk of the Thomas D. Clark Center for Kentucky History.

10:00 am – 4:00 pm – Santa Trains!, at the Bluegrass Railroad Museum, 175 Beasley Rd, Versailles

When snowflakes start to fly in Kentucky, Santa and Mrs. Claus bring Holiday Cheer to the Bluegrass Railroad Museum!

Six trains will be available this year! On Saturday the 9th and the 16th, we’ll have trains at 11 am and 2 pm. On Sundays, the 11th and 18th, we’ll have only the 2 pm train.

Once the train pulls out of the station for a two hour train ride, Santa visits with every child. Our Conductors and Car Hosts will help you pass the time while waiting for your turn with the jolly old elf. Enjoy singing carols, watching the winter countryside or just relaxing with your family. At the end of the ride, there are candy canes for everyone before Santa gives his final farewell.

Unfortunately, we don’t offer restrooms onboard the train.

You may purchase tickets online. The larger your party is, please arrive earlier, such as 10:15 for the morning trains, or 1:15 for the afternoon trains. It will be easier to seat you together if you board early.

Santa Trains will not feature a stop at our Kentucky River Overlook. We won’t be viewing the river.

Create a magical “green” world for fairies & exercise your creativity in this Fairy Garden Make & Take workshop. Add itty bitty plants, fairy cottages, stepping stones & exquisite tiny details like mini bird baths, forest animals & tiny watering cans to create a perfect home for the fairies. This workshop is kid-friendly. $45 fee includes a vessel with potting soil, three itty bitty plants, decorative stones, mosses & other natural elements. Fee also includes a $20 gift card so that you can purchase additional fairy ornaments or items.

It will be an interactive wizarding inspired event, with multiple interactive experiences including a wand making station! You will feel like you stepped right into the movie!

The beloved holiday classic returns to the historic Grand Theatre in downtown Frankfort! Come support local students as they whisk you off to the Land of the Sweets with Clara and her Nutcracker Prince.
