Telling the big story of Kentucky’s small-town capital city

In November of 2004, the Capital City Museum opened its doors to the public. Housed in a 150 year old building that represents all that is left of the Capital Hotel, which burned in 1917, the museum is a large room filled with history and character. There are plenty of details to explore, with exhibits painting a vivid picture of both political and personal life in Kentucky over the past 200 years.

The Capital City Museum is open from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM Monday through Saturday

Admission to the museum is free.

Frankfort’s Fishing Reels: Jewels of the Bluegrass

Frankfort has a very unique place in history as being the town where the bait casting fishing reel was perfected and first produced. Every place has its historic event or figure, but only we have this distinction. It was a Frankfort industry for over 100 years. Local craftsmen handmade these gems to fish the renowned streams of central Kentucky. Their reputation for quality and beauty was recognized around the world.

Join yoga instructor, Debby Angel, as she guides the yoga practice. Appropriate for all skill levels.

Improve your balance, endurance, strength, and flexibility at our weekly yoga sessions. Come follow various yoga DVDs that are appropriate for all skill levels.

(Ages 0-5) Story time is a great opportunity to introduce babies, toddlers, and preschoolers to the library and work on important early literacy skills. Join us the fourth Friday of each month for books, games, music, and crafts. No sign up necessary. At the Midway Branch Library.

Jacqui (White Cat Studio) & Jody (Jaques Art Studio) love to collaborate- so we have been developing some easy going- walk in workshops to help you personalize your work, use your creativity, chat with your friends, get the advice of professional artists and come hang out with us!

We have two bisqueware mugs to choose from – 10 oz travel mug, 16 oz mug or 12 oz. You will choose a time (just to spread you out- it’s walk in so very casz and flexible with time) choose your mug type, and pay to hold your spot. You can sign up early to make sure you will have a spot or wait till the night of and see if there are spots left. (We need to make sure we are prepared for you;)) Workshop sign up is at Jaques Art Studio’s Pocket of Pennies online shop.
