Telling the big story of Kentucky’s small-town capital city

In November of 2004, the Capital City Museum opened its doors to the public. Housed in a 150 year old building that represents all that is left of the Capital Hotel, which burned in 1917, the museum is a large room filled with history and character. There are plenty of details to explore, with exhibits painting a vivid picture of both political and personal life in Kentucky over the past 200 years.

The Capital City Museum is open from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM Monday through Saturday

Admission to the museum is free.

Frankfort’s Fishing Reels: Jewels of the Bluegrass

Frankfort has a very unique place in history as being the town where the bait casting fishing reel was perfected and first produced. Every place has its historic event or figure, but only we have this distinction. It was a Frankfort industry for over 100 years. Local craftsmen handmade these gems to fish the renowned streams of central Kentucky. Their reputation for quality and beauty was recognized around the world.

(Ages 11-18) Want to get crafty, but don’t have the time or materials? Join us at the Library for this drop-in craft hour, where we’ll make something new every week! No sign up necessary.

4:00 – 6:00 pm – Happy Hour, at Prodigy Vineyards and Winery, 4686 Versailles Road

Welcome! Please join other members of your Community to discuss The Park Project: a multi-organization Revitalization movement for Big Spring Park.
Big Spring Park is a 17-acre Green Space in the Heart of Versailles. There is potential to create a year-round destination a block from Downtown.

This is a long-term, community involved project, with many opportunities to get involved.

Learn to create a unique Book Folding art piece.
With a little patience, a book, and ruler your creativity can come alive! We will make a heart pattern for this project. All supplies provided.

6:10 – 7:10 pm – Yoga: Core & Stretch, at the The Fit Factory, 223 South Main St, Lawrenceburg

All-Levels Hatha Yoga Class includes:

-Various Pranayama Instruction(breathing techniques), Asanas (postures), and Meditation.

-Poses that are modified for students who are just beginning their Yoga Journey, and challenging poses are offered to those with more experience.

-Props such as Yoga Blocks, Yoga Straps, and Blankets that are available to support you when you need it.

-Insight into your body – How it moves, and how certain breathing techniques and poses can help activate the natural functions/processes in your body.

-Information on how Essential Oils can play a big part in supporting your Wellness.

-Last but most certainly not least, LOVE and SELF-CARE! If you do not have a self-care routine, I will give you tips on how to implement one into your life.

6:30 – 7:30 pm – Hot Yoga, at Bridgeport Center for Wellness Education, 555 Bridgeport Road

Today is the first of the month and if a lot of you like to start something at the beginning of the month/week then today is a great day to try hot yoga. This class is a favorite here and it has so many wonderful benefits from weight loss to detoxification. You will not regret it afterwards let me tell ya!

7:00 pm – Ghost Tour at Buffalo Trace Distillery, It’s rumored that there are more spirits at the Distillery than those aging in barrels. You will hear legendary stories and get a look at some of the Distillery’s most haunted areas, including Stony Point Mansion, where it’s been said that the ghost of Col. Blanton still resides.
