The 2018 Kentucky Wing Model Rocketry School is scheduled for March 24th and 25th. Only 24 student positions are available. Contact the Activity Director, Major Ault, or the Cadet Commandant, C/Maj Hebert, with any questions or concerns.

9:00 – 11:00 am – Beginners 5 Week Pottery Wheel Class, at Elements Clay studio and stuff llc, 1210 Bonds Mill Rd, Lawrenceburg

Beginners wheel throwing class meets from 9am-11am on Saturday mornings starting on FEB. 24TH-MARCH 24TH This class covers the basic foundations to throwing bowls, mugs and plates on the pottery wheel. You will learn how to trim, add handles and glaze your pieces. Seating is limited to 4. Unfortunately every once in a while class is canceled due to low enrollment. You will receive a full refund if that occurs. Age 14 on up Class fee $175 per person.

Join Shari Thompson for a Saturday morning Vinyasa style yoga class. A great and invigorating way to start your Saturday.

10:00 am – 12:00 pm – Running Wild 4 Mile Trail Run, at Salado Wildlife Education Center, 1 Sportsman Lane

Part of the 2018 Frankfort Striders Series.

The course is beautiful and suitable for all levels of experience. You will run through wooded areas as well as pass many of the animal exhibits at Salato. How many races let you run by deer, turkey, bear, and eagles just to name a few?

Awards will be presented to overall male and female finishers as welll as age group winners.

Proceeds go to benefit the Kentucky Fish and Wildlife Foundation

10:00 am – 12:00 pm – Easter Egg Roll 2018, at Lakeview Park, 118 Park Ave, Frankfort

Free fun for the whole family!

*The first 300 kids will receive a free goody bag thanks to the Capital Plaza Hotel

*We will also be collecting new and/or gently used children’s books to donate to Reach Out and Read.

*The Easter Bunny will be taking pictures from 10am-11am

*The Egg Roll will be split into age groups 0-2, 3-5, 6-8, 9-12. The winner of each Egg Roll heat will win a small prize! The Egg Rolls will start at 11am.

*Frankfort Y.M.C.A. Crayon Club will have free popcorn.

*Lifehouse for Animals will have face painting.

*Thorn Hill Education Center the FLIP (Families Leaning through Interaction Program) will be blowing up balloons for the children.

*Franklin County Humane Society will have adoptable pets and a coloring station.

*Passport Radio will be running the egg dyeing station

*Woodford County Humane Society will have a scavenger hunt.

10:00 am – 4:00 pm – Capital City Museum, 325 Ann Street, Open Monday through Saturday, Free Admission

Telling the big story of Kentucky’s small-town capital city

In November of 2004, the Capital City Museum opened its doors to the public. Housed in a 150 year old building that represents all that is left of the Capital Hotel, which burned in 1917, the museum is a large room filled with history and character. There are plenty of details to explore, with exhibits painting a vivid picture of both political and personal life in Kentucky over the past 200 years.

The Capital City Museum is open from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM Monday through Saturday

Admission to the museum is free.

Frankfort’s Fishing Reels: Jewels of the Bluegrass

Frankfort has a very unique place in history as being the town where the bait casting fishing reel was perfected and first produced. Every place has its historic event or figure, but only we have this distinction. It was a Frankfort industry for over 100 years. Local craftsmen handmade these gems to fish the renowned streams of central Kentucky. Their reputation for quality and beauty was recognized around the world.

10:30 – 11:30 am – Sow Like a Pro: Seed Starting & Seed Swap, at Wilson Nurseries, 3690 East West Connector – Route 676

Jump into the cultivation of your own flowers, herbs & veggies from seed & take part in our local seed swap. Our grower will show you the basics…selecting seed, growing healthy seedlings, germination, transplanting and timing techniques. Learn the tricks of our trade and get those “babies” started for the garden of your dreams. Bring some seeds of your own to swap with others! $10 fee includes experienced instruction, seed tray and starter soil, seed pack of your choice and a 10% discount for workshop participants.

When the paper trail ends, where do you go? DNA testing as a genealogical tool is a hot topic that we are exploring each month, one aspect at a time, through July.

Bring along your questions and experiences to share with the group. All research levels welcome – whether you have tested or not – let’s learn from each other’s experiences!

1:30 pm – Guided Tour of Historic Liberty Hall, at Liberty Hall Historic Site, 218 Wilkinson Street.

Guided tours of Liberty Hall are given Monday-Saturday and depart from Liberty Hall located at 218 Wilkinson Street at 1:30 pm. Tours by appointment may be made during normal office hours with advance notice of 7 days. Guided tours last approximately 75 minutes, ending in the museum store.  Las paseos en Español disponibles con cita; habla con Becky Shipp.

The grounds of Liberty Hall Historic Site are open to the public daily, dawn to dusk. Leashed dogs are allowed on the grounds. Photographers are welcome with a pass; click here to read more about our photo policy.

School tours must be scheduled in advance.  The fee for school tours is $3.00 per child.  One chaperon per every 10 children is free; each additional adult pays $5.00. To schedule a school tour, call (502) 227-2560 or contact us by email.


The first floor of the Orlando Brown House is wheelchair accessible via a ramp on Wapping Street, adjacent to the building. A handicapped-accessible restroom is also available at the Orlando Brown House.  Please call for more information. Liberty Hall is not wheelchair accessible.

Come join us Saturday March 24th from 2-4pm for an Easter Egg Hunt on the Football Field. The Easter Bunny will be present for photo opportunities. We will be giving away free refreshments and have many activities. We will have a Golden Egg Prize, don’t miss out on all of the fun!!

Football and Cheerleading Sign-ups will also be accepted from 12pm-3pm. $100 sign up fee.

5:00 – 6:00 pm – Finding Historic Frankfort, at the Kentucky Historical Society, 100 W Broadway St

KHS and Buffalo Trace are teaming up again for a new adventure, Finding Historic Frankfort, a photo-based scavenger hunt featuring some of Frankfort’s oldest buildings. It starts at the Thomas D. Clark Center for Kentucky History. Prizes for winner, best team name, and best Instagram caption. Space is limited, so you must pre-register. Registration opens Feb. 26. Call 502-564-1792. This is an 18-and-over event (ID required).

Teams must have at least two members and no more than four.
