7:30 pmJohn Cowan Band at the Grand Theatre, “An Evening with John Cowan” brings one of Kentucky’s favorites and his band to the Grand to present his new CD “Sixty” along with many of his long-time favorites. A veteran bassist and singer of the groundbreaking New Grass Revival, John Cowan follows fellow band members, Sam Bush and Béla Fleck to Frankfort’s intimate stage at the Grand.  Following a group of solo performances, John will rejoin the Doobie Brothers for a late winter tour. This event will take place April 3.  Call the Grand Theatre for ticket prices.

7:30 am Reforest Frankfort & Run for the Trees 4K, Lakeview Park, 112 Park Avenue

ReForest Frankfort is a community-wide event to bring people together to learn about the benefits of trees and protecting our valuable natural resources. We plant trees, educate, celebrate Arbor Day and HAVE FUN!

ReForest Frankfort is sponsored by the City of Frankfort and a number of other local and State organizations. The event takes place in announced locations each year from 9 am – 2 pm.

The event highlights are the free tree give-away, information booths, local music, and other fun activities for kids and adults.  The 5th Grade Poster Contest winners are announced; Soil Conservation’s Big Tree Contest Winners are presented.  Doorprizes, free food, t-shirts and other handouts are always a treat for the attendees.

Volunteers are needed and appreciated!  Show up with a shovel, gloves and dressed for the weather.

Reforest Frankfort 2015

Run, walk or skip – sign up today for the inaugural Re4est 4K Run for the Trees event before ReForest Frankfort this year. The 4 K begins at 7:30 am on Saturday, April 4th at Lakeview Park. Race participants are welcome to stay afterward for our traditional ReForest activities – planting trees, exhibitors, live music, lunch and we will have trees for you to take home! 10:00 am Annual Easter Egg Hunt at Buck Run Baptist Church, Buck Run Baptist Church invites all families to join us for our annual Easter egg hunt.  This event will take place on Saturday morning, April 4th at 10:00 AM and will be held at the Rehoboth property on HWY 421. (1950 Leestown Road)

Children and their parents are invited to join us for a fun filled morning.  The egg hunt will be divided into four age groups: 0-2, 3-5, 6-9 and 10-12.  In addition to the egg hunt we will be flying kites, enjoying a petting zoo, and breakfast items will be served.

Children must be accompanied by a parent.

Camp ArtyFact at the Thomas D. Clark Center for Kentucky History, 100 W. Broadway Let the Kentucky Historical Society educate, entertain and challenge your child at this half-day camp for children ages 6 to 13, Monday, April 6 – Friday, April 10. Participants explore the KHS history campus and collections and then create their own works of art.  Each Camp ArtyFact course is three hours long; campers may sign up for the morning course, the afternoon course or both.
