The Quarterfinals are set for both the girls’ and boys’ basketball teams competing in the Touchstone Energy All “A” Classic. Among the talented groups of teams remaining in play in Frankfort, are our neighbors down the road in Danville and up the road in Owen County. Some exciting basketball has been played within the arena at the Frankfort Convention Center. Don’t miss a minute of the action!
The girls begin playing at 8:30 am this morning with Owensboro Catholic (15-6) taking on Caverna (13-7). Followed by Covington Holy Cross (16-3) against Clinton County (21-3) at 10:00 am. At 11:30 am, Leslie County (18-3) will face off with Murray (20-2). The girls quarterfinal games conclude in the afternoon at 1:00 pm when Gallatin County (14-6) will challenge Bracken County (14-7). The winners of these games will advance to the Semifinals on Saturday with games scheduled at 10:00 and 11:30 am.
Then the courts heat up with the boys quarterfinalists taking to the hardwood in the evening at 5:00 pm with Buckhorn (14-6) taking on Lexington Christian Academy (16-6). Then Newport Central Catholic (16-3) taking on Elliot County (15-4) at 6:30 pm. The action continues at 8:00 pm when Shelby Valley (14-9) faces off against Owen County (19-2). The final game of the night finds Monroe County (20-2) against Danville (15-9) at 9:30 pm. Winners of these games will face off in Saturday’s Semifinal games at 6:00 and 7:30 pm.
The Frankfort Convention Center has experienced larger crowds for these games than in the past. So if you’re coming to cheer your favorite team on, be sure to get there early. Tickets for each session at the door are $10.
