Explore 8 new sculptures created by UNF sculpture students (along with several others) and participate in DESPACHO!
Despacho–literally meaning “dispatch”–describes the Andean practice of making offerings to the mountains, Mother Earth, and other spirits of nature in reciprocity, reverence, and thanksgiving. A despacho is an act of love, gratitude, and a reminder of the connections we share with all beings, elements, spirits, and sacred places. At the deepest level, it is an opportunity to enter into the essential unity of all things, the living energy of the universe.
We INVITE YOU to CREATE AN OFFERING
for the CELEBRATION and OPENING of
Despacho
Presented by University of North Florida Students
Stephen Paine and Mary Ratcliff
VISITORS WILL RECEIVE A KIT FOR CREATING A PERSONAL OFFERING TO HANG INSIDE DESPACHO, a new sculpture at JSP. ALL AGES & ABILITIES WELCOME!
WAYS TO VIEW YOUR OFFERING
*As a gift of repayment to mother earth by presenting flowers, a thank you note, or a poem
*As a message or flowers you would give a loved one
*As sharing a wish or dream with the universe
*As delivering gratitude or positive energy into the universe
*As an unexpected, anonymous gift that would ultimately delight the recipient and nurture a relationship
**The most important aspect will be the genuine love, gratitude and care you put into each step.
1. GATHER ELEMENTS FOR YOUR OFFERING – materials will be provided, but you may also bring your own items to include, or collect natural materials from around JSP.
2. ARRANGE THE ELEMENTS WITH CARE ON CLOTH PROVIDED, SECURE ITEMS BY WRAPPING CLOTH AROUND THEM AND TYING WITH TWINE. ATTACH HOOK TO TWINE.
3. GIVE YOUR OFFERING TO THE UNIVERSE BY HANGING IT INSIDE THE DOME. NOW THE OFFERING HAS BEEN MADE AND THE UNIVERSE WILL ACCEPT THE GOOD WILL FROM YOU AND THOSE AROUND YOU.

inThe 9th Annual Kentucky Heartwood Festival in Millville, Kentucky that was held on Saturday featured lots of music, food, local wares, activities for kids and families, dancing, conservation and eco friendly workshops.
Although it was a hot and humid day, many families took advantage of the creek workshop, learning to catch and release crayfish and small fish. The kiddos took turns helping muster the net. Lots of musical talent was showcased on the main stage in competitions throughout the day while folk dancing was taught in the community center. If you missed this year’s Heartwood Music Festival, be sure to catch it next year. It’s definitely well worth bringing the family to!
