With only 8 hours until the second leg of the Frankfort Trifecta begins, race director Debbie Brown had a message for all of the participants.  Please come join Capital Living as we help sponsor this year’s race!

It’s RACE DAY, and I have been thinking about our runners all week!  Just wanted to touch base before the day begins to remind you of a few things (hopefully, I won’t forget anything, but don’t count on it!)

1)  Already registered but want to add a school to your registration?  Click Here  This link also works if you want to be added a non-school team name.

2) Race packet pick up and late registration is today from 8-6 at the Eclectic Mix, 300 St. Clair.  Late Registration prices are $25 for adults and $15 for children.

3)  MOST School Packets were delivered to the respective school, unless you registered in the last 24-48 hours.  Some packets are downtown.  SCHOOLS:  IF any packets were delivered to your school that didn’t get picked up for whatever reason, please bring those packets to the Eclectic Mix today.

4) Pre-race:

  • We will have a Drop Station this year on the old capitol lawn (look for the blue tent).  You can leave your jacket, race packet bag, whatever during the race.  They will take your bib number and name.  You must show your bib number to retrieve your items post race.
  • Enjoy the music and mingle around.
  • April Cole, of Capital Living and Digital Expressions, will be taking pictures.
  • We will start getting in race mode around 6:15 when we all gather on the old capitol side of Broadway for the Cool Comfort Cook Kids School Award presentation AND the singing of the National Anthem by runner Nathan Bale.

5) Lining Up:  After the National Anthem is sung, we will divide into groups:

  • Group 1: Under 8 minute milers (finish time of less than 24 minutes)
  • Group 2:  >8-12 minute milers (finish time 28-36 minutes)
  • Group 3: School Challenge Teams (minus the gifted student runners who have demonstrated in previous running events that they belong in group 1 or 2)
  • Group 4: Finally our walkers and those with pets and strollers
  • Please be patient and keep a sense of humor about this! It’s the first year we’ve tried this; hopefully it will make the experience safer for all!

6) We will be using CHIP TIMING for the race tonight, so despite you maybe starting a few seconds behind others, your time will be your real time.  That said, please do start with the appropriate group.

7) Post Race Activities:

  • Award Ceremony will be on Broadway, old capitol side, as soon as we get the results.  Overall winners, age group winners, first timers and school awards. Because the weather looks like it will be good, we won’t be going to the KY History Center as indicated on the registration forms (but do check out the rack card in your race packet on the inaugural KHS KY History Half Marathon/ 5K /10K that is coming up October 3!!)
  • LIVE MUSIC at the KY Coffeetree Cafe post race….Swing 39 with Jeff Ellis and other special guest….gypsy jazz and a “whole lotta fun”!  While there, check out their Cuban Black Bean dish, I had it last night and it was heavenly.  The perfect post race meal!
8)  On behalf of Pro.Active Therapy, WeWannaPlay, the United Way of Franklin County and our other sponsors, we THANK YOU for joining us this evening! Looking forward to the run!
Debbie

 GOOD LUCK RUNNERS
